this is our Frankenpot, made of three cylinders. One new skill I learned was how to attack projects to make them taller. One art element is the complex shape and one design element is lines. The design makes it look like a snowman so that is the image it expresses. I was gone the day we threw the three cylinders so what I did we create the design.
This is my choice project, it is a plate with glass pieces in it. One new thing I did was use glass pieces because I had never used them before. One art element I used was lines created by the the glass. One design element I used was contrast with the light clay and colored glass. This plate is more for decorative purposes rather than functionality.
This is my set of three. They are three different sized popcorn bowls. One new thing I learned was how to throw big, these are the biggest bowls I have thrown so far. One art element I used was lines and one design element I used was contrast. I made these to put in our bonus room because we have a popcorn machine and watch a lot of movies in there. This is my choice and it is a closed project. I learned how to do closed projects on the wheel. One art element is texture because I carved lines to give it lines like a pumpkin. One design element I used was unity to make the whole project look like a pumpkin. This reflects the fall time because now is the time pumpkins are growing. This is my wheel altered project. I began by throwing a bowl and then pulling out the sides. I learned how to change a wheel project by hand. One art element is shape with the curvy top. One design element is contrast between the brown, green and white glaze. It expresses creativity. This is one of two plates. One new skill I used was I learned how to work with stain. One art element I used was space. There are spaces of white seamix showing while there are dark spots of stain. One design element I used was harmony. The design stained onto the plate is not continuous throughout but compliment each other as a whole. This is important because it expresses how multiple patterns don't always create chaos. This is the second of my two plates. One new skill I learned was how to make glazes run by using white. One art element I used was color because multiple shades of a color were used. One design element I used was gradation. The three different colors blend into one. This expressed an earthy tone with the the blues and greens. This is my tall project. To make this I pulled up and choked. One art element I used was space, the black color made it look deeper than it actually is. One design element I used was contrast with the white sea mix and black glaze. This shows how making something look so simple can change how people perceive it, such as depth. This is my first wheel bowl project. From this project I learned how to throw a bowl again because I have not been in ceramics for a few years. One art element is space, the different colors make the bowl appear to be expanding. One design element is contrast, the green is much darker than the white. It is a very simple bowl with not much detail to it so it expresses simplicity This is my second wheel thrown bowl. From this project I learned what the best tool to carve a project with is. One art element is space because there are carved triangles creating more depth. One design element is contrast because there are layering light and dark colors. The bowl represents depth |
